A perrenial favorite, this restaurant is housed in a renovated turn-of-the-century house with a large garden out front. The garden is as elegant stylish as the Sezession restaurant with wide linen canopies and fig trees. Imaginative interntional cuisine, laid-back service.

2. Seasons, Hilton Hotel, 1 Bulgaria Blvd, Tel: 933 50 00

It's hard to tell you are in the center of Sofia when you sit on a large gem of terrace that looks out onto the park behind the modern Hilton Hotel. Impeccably stylish, the restaurant offers modern, fresh and delicious food, combining flavours from all over the world.

3. The House with the Clock, 15 Moskovska St, Tel: 987 56 56

Undoubtedly one of the best locations in Sofia with a garden restaurant. The House with the Clock is on the quiet part of Moskovska St opposite teh Royal Palace, the house itself is a gem. Tables are spaced far apart in the garden's lush greenery and are well fitted inside. International cuisine.

4. Krim, 17 Slavyanska St, Tel: 981 06 66

One of the few restaurants that was around before the arrival of democracy, Krim exudes an air of old-school elegance and service, Krim still fills up with Bulgaria's political and business elite winter nad summer alike. A long menu offers Bulgaria, Russian and International cuisine in very large portions.

5. Chevermeto, 31 Cherni Vrah Blvd, Tel: 0887 617 972

The Bulgarian restaurant Chevermeto combines authentic interior with traditional Bulgarian meals, prepared from old national recipes. Chevermeto also hosts folklore show.

6. L'Etranger, 78 Tsar Simeon St, Tel: 983 14 17

Homely bistro offering very reasonable food - good place for a quick quiche or a more leisure three-course meal. The chef is a Frenchman who ownes the place together with his Bulgarian wife, so the place is a real family restaurant. Good service and meals taht live up to expectations.


PIZZA
1. Krivoto, 9 6-th September St, Tel: 980 03 30

This is a suave and relazing place for a feed, offering a reliable range of salads, soups and pizzas. The cavern-like downstairs room, with sunken bar and area sorrounded by tables, is very cool indeed. Suitable for quick casual dining.

2. Pizza Hut, 62 Gurko St, Tel: 986 67 17

A good choice of both Italian and American-style pizzas, served up in a brightly family-friendly environment. Prices are slightly higher than average but that's probably justified by the use of a wider range of high-quality ingredients than some other Sofia pizzerias.

You can find it also at Mall of Sofia, fl. 2 as well as at 7, Dondukov Blvd.

3. Don Domat, 34 Tsar Asen St, Tel: 984 12 70

A very nice pizzeria. You will encounter smilled waitresses, fast service, big salads and really tasty pizzas. There is also a list of cooked meals all around the world. The personnel of Don Domat is doing everything possible to satisfy its guests.

 4. Ugo, 45 Vitosha Blvd, Tel: 986 48 09

With matt black tables illuminated from designer lampshades this is as groovy a place to tuck into pizzas as you'll find in Sofia. The pies and pizzas themselves aren't any better than elsewhere but one can still find something that could not be found everywhere. Huge salads provide lots of veggie options.

5. O! Shipka, 11 Shipka St, Tel: 944 92 88

Rich and varied choice of pizzas and salads with a few grilled meats and Mexican dishes ballasting out the menu. Reasonably pleasant stuff and satisfyingly tangy lasagna.


CLUBS AND BARS
1. Motto, 18 Aksakov St, Tel: 987 27 23

The interior of Motto is a good example of a modern design in 'retro-chic' style. There you can find not only a pleasant atmosphere but also a good cuisine and service. The menu includes a small number of well selected original dishes. Its trendy settings and the wide variety of alcoholic drinks and cocktails make Motto one of the few good bars in Sofia.

Babbles is a stylish, cozy and extravagant place to go. It's bright and warm colors instantly cheer you up. The menu is full of different alcoholic and non-alcoholik cocktails and also lots of traditional beverages.

3. Back Stage, 100 Vasil Levski Blvd, Tel: 871 41 48

Backstage opened in May 2000 and hosts nightly live performances by Bulgarian and international artists. Monthly there are jazz or pop concerts, which are broadcasted live on Jazz FM Radio. Every Wednesday is Blues Night with the best Bulgarian blues musicians playing their hearts out.
